Sarah & Michael

Wedding at The Retreat

in Corona, California

Sarah and Michael’s wedding at The Retreat by Wedgewood Weddings in Corona, California was the kind of day that felt effortless from start to finish. With clear skies and warm sun overhead, their outdoor ceremony was bright, joyful, and full of energy as they exchanged vows surrounded by family and friends.

What stood out immediately was their playful chemistry. The kind that makes everything feel easy, where laughter comes naturally and every moment feels a little more alive just by the way they interact with each other.

Set against the hills of Corona, The Retreat Wedgewood wedding venue creates a natural flow to the day. From the ceremony lawn to the terrace and into the reception, everything transitions seamlessly without ever feeling rushed or forced.

As the day moved into the evening, the energy carried right along with it. Golden hour settled over the hills, slowly giving way to a purple and pink sunset that felt almost unreal. Their first dance landed right in that moment, with the sky shifting behind them in a way you honestly couldn’t plan better if you tried. And just when you thought the night couldn’t get any better, Michael brought out a sword on the dance floor, instantly taking things to another level. It turned into one of those moments everyone talks about after, a little chaotic, a lot of fun, and completely unforgettable. We danced, we cried, and sang our hearts out.

A day that started with sunshine, carried by genuine connection, and ended with a packed dance floor, great energy, and just a little bit of chaos in the best way.

Congratulations Sarah and Michael 🤍

The Retreat by Wedgewood Weddings Venue in Corona, California

The Retreat by Wedgewood Weddings is a hilltop wedding venue in Corona, California, known for its panoramic valley views, Spanish-style architecture, and seamless indoor-outdoor flow. Set above the surrounding hills, the venue creates a sense of privacy while still being easily accessible from Los Angeles and the Inland Empire.

A Retreat Wedgewood wedding typically flows from an outdoor ceremony on the lawn into cocktail hour on the terrace, followed by a reception either under the lights or inside the grand hall. The layout allows the day to move naturally without feeling rushed, making it a strong choice for couples who want both structure and flexibility.

Sarah and Michael were drawn to The Retreat for exactly that reason. They loved how everything could happen in one place without feeling confined. With dedicated spaces for getting ready, an outdoor ceremony site, and a reception area that transitions effortlessly into the evening, it made planning the day feel simple and intentional. It also meant more time being present with their people, instead of worrying about logistics or moving between locations.

The two biggest advantages of this venue is its lighting and its variety of portrait locations all on one property. The elevated position makes it ideal for golden hour portraits, with soft light wrapping across the hills and creating a warm, cinematic feel that carries into the evening.

Personally I would be honored to be called back as a Wedgewood wedding photographer. They build their venues with ambience and lighting in mind, so to me, its a venue that compliments my style of photography.

For couples planning a Corona or Southern California wedding, or planning a wedding at a Wedgewood Weddings venue, The Retreat continues to stand out as a venue that feels scenic, elevated, and easy to experience from start to finish.

Everything You Need to Know About The Retreat by Wedgewood Weddings

The Retreat sits inside a private gated community in the hills above Corona, with views that stretch out toward the Cleveland National Forest. It holds up to 225 guests, which puts it in a range that feels full and celebratory without ever tipping into overwhelming.

Two things stand out to me as a photographer when I shoot here: the valley views from that elevated position, and the Spanish inspired architecture throughout the property. Both give you something genuinely interesting to work with that you just don't get at a generic ballroom venue. The archways, the tile work, the warm tones of the building itself all show up in photos in a way that adds character without needing much else around it.

If weather becomes a factor, the indoor ballroom steps in as a full ceremony alternative without feeling like a compromise. Vaulted ceilings, chandeliers, neutral finishes. The day keeps moving and the photos still work.

For timing, fall and winter are the sweet spot! Sarah and Michael chose late December and the venue delivered. Corona's mild climate keeps outdoor ceremonies viable year round, but the cooler months bring lower sun angles and softer conditions that suit this hillside setting well. Summer works, though you'll want to plan photography a little more carefully since the heat and direct (sometimes harsh) lighting could hold later into the afternoon.

The Retreat runs on Wedgewood's all-inclusive model, bundling catering, coordination, DJ, and rentals under one package but still allow for outside photography vendors like me! For couples it simplifies the planning process considerably. For me as a photographer it means the timeline actually holds, which consistently makes for a better day on camera.
