Stephanie & Eitan
Engagement Session at Matador Beach
in Malibu, California
Stephanie and Eitan's engagement session was one of those days that just kept getting better. We started at the Huntington Botanical Gardens in San Marino, where the lush greenery and garden paths gave us a completely different energy: lively, playful, and full of easy laughter. It was immediately clear these two were going to be a joy to photograph.
Midway through, we made the spontaneous call to drive out to Malibu and finish the session at Matador Beach. That kind of decision is always a gamble, but when it pays off, it really pays off. The rocky coastline, the golden late afternoon light, and the ocean backdrop made for some of the most natural and cinematic frames from the whole session.
As a Los Angeles engagement photographer, I love sessions that aren't afraid to move around and let the day evolve. Matador Beach is one of my favorite spots in the greater LA area for exactly this reason, it photographs differently depending on the light and the tide, and it always delivers something real.
Matador Beach in Malibu, California
Matador Beach in Malibu is one of the most sought-after locations for engagement photos in the Los Angeles area. Known for its dramatic sea stacks, rocky coves, and golden coastal light, it offers a backdrop that feels both cinematic and intimate at the same time. Whether you're after soft, romantic portraits or something with a little more energy and movement, the beach delivers in almost any conditions.
Sessions at Matador Beach tend to work best in the hour or two before sunset, when the light turns warm and directional. Parking is limited, so planning ahead matters, but for couples who want something visually striking and genuinely memorable, it's worth it every time.
As a Los Angeles engagement photographer, Malibu is one of my favorite areas to shoot.
If you're planning an engagement session in Malibu, at Matador Beach, or anywhere across the greater LA area, I'd love to make it feel like you.
