Regina & Patrick
Engagement Session at Great Falls Park
in McLean, Virginia
Regina and Patrick's engagement session at Great Falls Park was one of those days where the location does a lot of the heavy lifting.
Great Falls is genuinely one of the most dramatic natural settings in the entire DC area. The overlooks, the rocky terrain, the sound of the water it all creates this sense of scale that you just don't get at most engagement locations. We worked our way through the park as the light started to shift in the late afternoon, and it delivered exactly what you'd hope for.
Regina and Patrick were relaxed, playful, and completely themselves from the moment we started. That kind of energy makes everything easier and the photos feel like actual moments rather than poses.
As a Washington DC engagement photographer, Great Falls Park is one of my favorite spots in the region. It works beautifully in any season and gives couples something that feels genuinely different from the typical DC monuments session though those are great too.
Great Falls Park in McLean, Virginia
Great Falls Park is one of the most visually striking engagement session locations in the Washington DC and Northern Virginia area. Managed by the National Park Service, the park offers dramatic views of the Potomac River gorge, rugged rock formations, and wooded trails that create a wide variety of shooting environments within a relatively small area.
Sessions here work particularly well in the golden hour before sunset, when the light filters through the trees and catches the mist from the falls. Fall is especially stunning, but the park photographs beautifully year-round. It's a great choice for couples who want something outdoors and natural without the crowds and formality of a more traditional DC location.
As a Washington DC and Northern Virginia engagement photographer, I love what this park brings out in a session. If you're planning your engagement photos at Great Falls Park or anywhere in the greater DC area, I'd love to make it feel like you.
